Bulldogs bite Rams in nightcap

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union College bounced back in the nightcap of Thursday's AAC twinbill to defeat the Rams 7-5 in a nine inning affair.
The Bulldogs scored four in the first to take the lead, and then added another run in the third. The Rams chipped away at the lead and with a pair of runs in the top of the third. BC loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth and a single up the middle by Jeremie Garcia brought home two runs. The Rams added another score in the frame to tie the game at five. Union retook the lead in the sixth and held on for the win.
Ben Coffman worked five innings on the mound and struck out five. Colton Bochtler suffered the loss. He was the second of four Bluefield College pitchers. Meech was 3-for-4 and Garcia 2-for-5 to lead BC hitters.
"Ben Coffman recorded a quality start. Colton Bochtler got saddled with the loss. David Meech led our offense with a 3-for-4 effort," said head coach Mike White. "Overall a quality day against a solid Union club. Hopefully we can come out ready to play tomorrow in the rubber match of the series."
