State nips BU in Battle of the Bluefields

BLUEFIELD - Bluefield University women's basketball fell in its home opener Thursday night, dropping a 69-63 decision to Bluefield State College in the Battle of the Bluefields.
In a closely contested game throughout, the visiting Big Blue led by a basket 18-16 after the first quarter. BSC led 35-30 at the half. The Rams charged  back in the third quarer to take the lead and led 49-46 heading into the final 10 minutes. BSC retook the lead in the fourth and held on for the victory.
Kylie Meadows led the Rams with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Destiny Long followed with 13 points and seven boards.
The Rams fell to 0-2 with the loss.
