BLUEFIELD - Baseball snapped its five game skid with a 13-6 non-conference win over Brescia University, Thursday afternoon at Bowen Field.
The Rams jumped to an 8-0 lead in the game's first three innings, the big hits a run scoring triple by
Lenyn Napoleon in the second, and a two-run home run by
Anderson Xapsos in the third. Along the way
Aaron Hash shut down the visiting Bearcats.
Brescia made a run and closed to within 8-6 in the middle innings, but the Rams, with a 20-hit game, pulled away in the late innings to preserve the victory.
Xapsos led the Bluefield hit parade, going 4-for-5 at the plate with five RBIs. Napoleon was finished with three hits and was a home run short of hitting for the cycle.
Ozzie Millet,
Andreas Holtzer, and
George Curbelo each had three hits for the Rams.
Hash picked up the win for Bluefield as he worked five innings, allowed only four hits and struck out five Brescia batters.
