BLUEFIELD - Truett McConnell University took an AAC baseball doubleheader from the Rams Sunday afternoon at Bowen Field. The Bears took game one 8-6, then defeated BC 5-1 in the nightcap.
In the opener TMU opened a 4-0 lead before the Rams clawed back to within a run at 6-5. The visitors scored a pair of insurance runs in the eighth inning to secure the win.
The Rams out-hit Truett McConnell 10-9 in the game and leading the way was
Joseph Cardona with a pair of hits and two RBIs.
Eligha Lewis, and
Lenyn Napoleon also had a pair of hits apiece.
Nathan Cutler pitched five innings for the Rams and took the loss.
In the nightcap the Rams mustered only three hits, the first coming from leadoff hitter
Carlos Torres. Bluefield did not get any more hits until the seventh and final frame when
George Curbelo doubled and Napoleon had a single.
Nathan Presbot, the BC starting pitcher, suffered the loss.
The Rams and Bears conclude the AAC series Monday at Bowen Field. The first pitch is set for 1 p.m.
