BLUEFIELD - Men's volleyball, playing on the home court for the first time in nearly a month, lost a hard-fought match to the club team from Milligan College in four sets Wednesday night 23-25, 25-29, 22-25, 18-25.
The Rams started the match on a strong note with a kill by
General Smith and a service ace by
Devon Robinson and BC held the early lead in set one. Milligan later took the lead and the teams battled throughout before the Buffaloes took the set.
BC held an early lead in the second set only to see Milligan draw even. A late Bluefield rally allowed the Rams to pull away and take the win.
The third set was closely contested with ties throughout, the final one at 22. Milligan scored the final three points to get the win.
The Buffaloes took the lead in the fourth set early and never relinquished it to claim the set.
Caleb Word had a career high 45 assists along with 12 digs to lead Bluefield.
Carleek Owens had 25 kills and 13 digs. Robinson had 14 kills and 14 digs.
Terrell Boston and
Colby Mutter both had career highs in digs, Boston with 21, Mutter with 17.
