Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Rams fly past Reinhardt

BLUEFIELD - A strong three-point shooting game and a scrappy defense propelled women's basketball to a 69-65 AAC win over Reinhardt University, Friday night at the Dome Gymnasium.
The Rams started off hot, hitting three treys to start the game. Reinhardt charged back and led 19-15 at the end of the first quarter. BC controlled the second quarter and managed to take a 38-35 halftime advantage. Bluefield sank 10 three point baskets in the opening half.
The game was a struggle and in the third Reinhardt forged back ahead and led 46-44 going into the fourth quarter. The Rams made the final push, behind more three point baskets and a strong defense, and came away with the four-point win.
Tianna Crockett was perfect from the field with 24 points. She added eight rebounds. Crockett was perfect shooting from the field, making all five of her three point attempts. Cierra Cook finished with 13 points and five assists, while Nialla Curtis had a game-high 14 rebounds.
"I am really pleased with our team, our effort, our enthusiasm. It was one of our better defensive efforts of the year. You look at Reinhardt, they averaged 70 points a game coming in and scored 90 on St. Andrews the other day and I'm really pleased to hold them in the sixties and give ourselves a chance to win," said Rams Head Coach Corey Mullins. "It was just a complete team effort and I'm really proud of them."
The Rams shot 52% from behind the three-point line and 50 percent from the field in the game. Mullins talked about the importance of the good shooting.
"I have said from the very beginning that this might be one of the best three-point shooting teams that we've had since I've been here," Mullins said. "Even our post players can step up, step out and are comfortable shooting that three," Mullins said. "We knew what they tried to do was going to give us opportunities to step out and knock down some shots and I'm really happy for our team, Tianna in particular, stepping up and being perfect from the field, hitting five-of-five from three, it was awesome."
