Buddy Gallemore's squad jumped out to a lead in the middle of the first set and didn't let up with a 25-18 win. Two-sport star Taylor Southerland racked up 6 kills in the opening frame.
The Knights briefly stormed back in the second set to make it closer, but the Rams closed out to win the set 25-20.
"Kentucky Christian's scrappiness was something that I knew could challenge us," said Gallemore.
The offensive chemistry certainly flows through junior setter Aubri Whatcott, who tallied 33 assists at the end of the match.
Bluefield led by as much as seven in the final set before a few late errors shot a bit of hope into KCU. Fortunately for the Rams, Bluefield closed out the match on a monstrous Jessica Wells kill down the line.
Wells, the junior transfer from American Baptist, accumulated a team-leading 12 kills off of the bench for Bluefield. Leslie Flores, the returning sophomore from Ohio, joined her in double-digit kills with 11. Flores also clinched a double-double after scraping up 14 digs in the victory.
Bluefield now begins a challenging swing of three games in five days, and continues the homestand Thursday vs. AAC foe Montreat at 6:30 PM
