Reinhardt spikes Rams

BLUEFIELD – Reinhardt University women's volleyball team came to The Dome as the top team in the AAC South Division and the Rams were itching for the upset win. However, the Eagles flew away with a three-set win over BC, Friday night.
Reinhardt took a commanding lead in the opening set, moving ahead early by 10 points on several occasions before BC called time, down by 11 at 17-6. After regrouping the Rams scored five straight points to cut the Eagles' lead to six at 17-11. However the visitors took charge and moved back ahead by 10, and went on to win the opening set 25-14.
Bluefield took the early lead in the second set before RU tied things at seven and took its first lead 8-7. The Rams drew even at eight, but the visitors scored three unanswered to forge ahead. Reinhardt built its lead to five at 15-10 and BC used its first time out of the first set. Reinhardt went on to win the second set 25-18.
The Rams battled the Eagles for points early and tied the set at seven on Katie Kendrick's ace, forcing RU to call time. BC took the lead on the next point and extended it to 10-7. Reinhardt fought back to tie and the teams battled in the set with neither team gaining more than a two-point advantage. The Rams took a 20-19 lead only to see Reinhardt tie at 20. The Eagles moved ahead by two at 23-21  and went on to take the set 25-21 and the match.
Kassidy Holloway led Bluefield with 22 assists and 11 digs. Katie Kendrick had nine kills and three digs, while Kailee Kay had eight kills.
