BLUEFIELD – Women's volleyball won its fourth straight match with a three-set win over AAC foe Montreat, Friday night at the Dome Gymnasium 25-21, 25-23, 25-16.
The first set was fast-paced and the visiting Cavaliers took the early lead up by as many as three in the early part of the set. On several occasions the Rams pulled within a point, but midway through the opening set Montreat was able to pull back ahead by three at 15-12. BC drew even at 15 on a service ace by Claire Fingerlin and took its first lead at 16-15.  Rams pushed ahead 22-17 but Montreat charged back to within two of the lead at 22-20. The Rams held on to take the first set 25-21.
Montreat rolled out to a 5-0 lead in set two, forcing the Rams to call their first time out. After the time out BC scored two straight to cut into the Cavaliers' lead. MC responded with a charge and pushed its lead to 13-4. Montreat went up seven late in the set and the Rams mounted a late rally to get to within five and later to within three. Leslie Flores' service ace made it a two-point game at 23-21 and an errant Montreat return made it 23-22. The Rams tied it at 23 and BC took the lead 24-23 on a Montreat miscue. The Rams won the set on a Katie Kendrick kill.
Bluefield took command in the third set, taking an early lead and building it to nine points at 14-5. Montreat slowly climbed back into the game and came to within four at 18-14 when BC used its final time out. The Rams went on a 7-1 run to take the set 25-16 the match.
Gabby Rigsby had 13 kills for the Rams while Kassidy Holloway had 27 assists and 17 digs. Leslie Flores had 14 digs, Kailee Kay had 12 and Paige Fisher added 11.
