Volleyball win streak goes to three

BLUEFIELD – Women's volleyball won their third straight match and for the fifth time in six outings Tuesday night, defeating Kentucky Christian University in four sets at the Dome Gymnasium.
The Rams opened the match with four straight points and builted an early 7-2 lead. BC pushed its lead to 11-4 at which time KCU called time. The Rams increased their lead to 11 at 18-7 when the Knights used the final timeout of the set. The Rams went on to win the first set 25-11.
The Knights came out blazing in the second set, took a 4-0 and pulled away to a 10-4 lead forcing the Rams to use a timeout. After regrouping BC scored six straight points to tie it at 10 and KCU called time. After an 11-all tie the Rams charged ahead 14-11. However, Kentucky Christian did not falter and retook the lead by two at 16-14. It was then Bluefield's turn to rally and the Rams did, retaking the lead, going up 20-17. The Rams went on to win the set 25-22 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
KCU took command in the third set and rolled to a 9-3 lead when the Rams called a timeout. The Knights built their lead to 12-4. Bluefield fought back and closed to within four on a couple of occasions before making it a three-point match at 15-12 when KCU used a timeout. The Rams could not draw any closer as the Knights increased their lead and went on to take their first set in the match 25-14.
In the fourth set the teams exchanged points and were tied at each point until the Rams took a 10-8 lead and later 11-9. KCU tied things and later took the lead midway through the set. After a tie at 16 BC moved ahead by three. It was nip-and-tuck the remainder of the way but the Rams went on to win the set 25-21 and take the match.
Kassidy Holloway had 39 assists and 13 digs to lead BC. Katie Kendrick had 13 kills and Gabby Rigsby added 10. Paige Fisher had 22 digs.
