Box Score BLUEFIELD - Baseball picked up its first conference win of the season and ended a six-game skid with a 16-8 win over Milligan College, Friday night at Bowen Field in the opening game of a three-game series.
Milligan opened the game with four runs in the top of the first inning, but the Rams responded by scoring nine in the bottom of the second and never looked back. Key in the inning was a grand slam home run by
Joshua Magee, his eighth long ball of the season.
Freshman
Jackson Keene started on the mound and picked up the win for Bluefield as he worked four innings, allowed four earned runs. The southpaw allowed six hits, struck out one and only walked one batter.
At the plate
Baley Castro,
Jose Perez,
Jordan Ackerman and
Nick Meadows led the Bluefield hit parade as they each collected two hits. The Rams had 14 hits as a team.
Bluefield (10-7, 1-6 AAC) and Milligan meet again on Saturday, March 14 in a doubleheader at Bowen Field beginning at 1 p.m.
