Women lose tough battle with Bryan

BLUEFIELD - The Lady Rams welcomed the Lady Lions from Bryan College to the Dome Gymnasium for an AAC contest and dropped a hard-fought 83-75 contest.
To start the game, the Rams won the tip-off and the Lady Lions scored the first points of the game. Courtney Kendrick made the first points for the Rams making the score 3-2. The Lady Lions took a 12-point lead which made the score 16-4. Both teams exchanged two and three point shots. At the end of first period, the score was 26-15 Lady Lions.

At the start of the second, the Rams and Lady Lions exchanged shots making the score 30-17 Lady Lions. The Rams started to close the gap making the score 34-27, only a seven-point lead for Bryan. Both teams exchanged three-point shots back-t- back making the score 45-36 Bryan. During the second quarter both teams kept the point difference close with the Lady Lions scoring 22 points and the Rams scoring 23. The score at halftime was 48-38 Lady Lions.
To start the third period, Danae Cox made the first points for Bluefield and the Lady Lions retaliated which made the score 50-41. The Rams started to close the gap to only a five-point lead for the Lady Lions. Both teams fought hard for the points they received that made the score 55-51, the smallest lead the Lady Lions had all game. At the end of the third the score was 59-55, Bryan.
Kendrick set the tone for the fourth period with a three pointer for the Bluefield which made the score 59-58. Bluefield began a surge and took the lead from the numerous three pointers in a row 69-64. Both teams fought hard and tied the game tied 71-71. The Lady Lions took the lead again which made the score 81-73. The Lady Rams took a tough loss to the Lady Lions 83-76.
Kendrick led in points tonight with 19 and Cox followed with 15.  Kierra Bell-Linnear had 12 and Tianna Crockett finished with 11.
