Women's basketball shoots past Columbia International

BLUEFIELD - Saturday's  saw an AAC battle between the Bluefield College Rams and the Columbia International University Rams and BC claimed a 70-52 victoryto move to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in league play.
Cortney Kendrick started the game with a two pointer and Danae Cox quickly scored twice right after. CIU started to make a come back which made the score 6-5. Both teams started making two- and three-point shots which advantaged the teams score to 12-9 at the end of the first period.
To start the second quarter, Jamie Vest scored a three-point shot and a foul shot with Kierra Bell-Linnear right behind which made the score 18-9. Both teams fought hard for the points they received and BC extended its lead to 28-14, a 14-point lead, the biggest all game. BC held the lead 31-19 at halftime.
Cierra Cook started the third quarter with a three pointer for Bluefield, with Columbia International University making the quick comeback. Bluefield later extended to its biggest lead of the game, 23 points. BC kept extending its lead, moving ahead 57-29, the biggest lead for the Rams of 28 points. The score at the end of the third period was 57-29.
CIU cut into the Bluefield lead in the fourth period as Coach Corey Mullins was able to get valuable playing time for the players on his roster.
Kendal Cloninger Bluefield led in scoring with 11 point. Kierra Bell-Linnear was right behind with 10. Courtney Kendrick led with 13 rebounds.
Jordan Sprueill of CIU led all scorers with 29 points.
