BECKLEY, W.Va. – Women's basketball opened the season with a heartbreaking 48-44 loss to WVU Tech, Tuesday night at the Raleigh County Convention Center. Tied at 44 with less than a minute to play, the Golden Bears sand a pair of free throws with 19 seconds remaining to take the lead, then added the final two points to round out the scoring.
Courtney Kendrick, returning to the court after missing the entire 2017-18 season due to injury, had a double-double for the Rams, scoring 10 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.
Kierra Bell-Linnear had eight points and grabbed five boards.
Danae Cox scored nine and dished out four assists.
The Rams return to the court in the Pikeville Classic Friday and Saturday, taking on Shawnee State on Friday and host Pikeville on Saturday.
