BLUEFIELD – For a half the Rams played the No. 4 team in the nation toe-to-toe but the se cond half saw the Reinhard Eagles pull away and claim a 48-6 win Saturday night at Mitchell Stadium in a key MSC Appalachian Division contest.
In a game dominated by the run, the Eagles scored first with 4:47 left in the first. The Rams answered when Shiloh Ward connected with Lowell Patron Jr. on a 33-yard scoring strike with 12:52 showing on the second quarter clock. The score capped a four-play 80-yard drive. The PAT was blocked Reinhardt led 7-6.
RU pushed ahead 14-6 late in the half, but the dagger was a TD pass with 30 seconds left before halftime that gave the visitors as 21-6 lead going into the intermission.
Reinhardt added four second half touchdowns to round out the scoring.
The Rams offense could muster only 156 total yards against the tough Reinhardt defense, while Reinhardt generated 495 total yards.
DaMarcus Wimbush keyed the BC defense with 13 tackles and Tyrice Henry finished with eight.
The Rams visit the University of the Cumberlands next Saturday for another MSC Appalachian Division game.
