Box Score 2 BLUEFIELD - In a pair of tightly contested games, the Truett McConnell University Bears took a doubleheader from the Bluefield College Rams, Saturday afternoon at the Graham Rec Park in an Appalachian Athletic Conference battle.
In the opener the teams battled into extra innings before TMU scored three times in the eighth to get the win. BC was led at the plate by
Baily Garin and
Meredith Throckmorton who each had two hits. Garin picked up a home run.
Brienna Sparks suffered the loss in the circle for BC.
The nightcap saw Truett jump to a big lead before Bluefield rallied to close the gap, including a four-run seventh inning for the Rams.
Morgan Sawyers had three hits for Bluefield, while
Mary Blake Avery and
Eryn Haley each had two.
Cameron Pearson took the loss.
The Rams are now 12-8 overall and 1-5 in conference play. They return to action Wednesday at Milligan.
