Box Score 4 BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield College softball team is off to its best start in history. The Rams are 5-1 after their first six games and won their first five contests.
After a season opening sweep of Asbury, the Rams took a doubleheader from crosstown rival Bluefield State 23-0 and 18-2. In the first game against the Big Blues
Cameron Pearson was 3-for-5 with five RBIs.
Kaitlyn Pennington and
Mary Blake Avery were both 3-for-3, and
Kristen Murphy and
Meredith Throckmorton were each 2-for-3 with four RBIs apiece.
Daelyn Hedger got the win in the circle.
Game two against State saw the Rams claim an 18-2 win as
Savannah Shirley homered and knocked in three runs. Throckmorton was 3-for-3 with six RBIs and Avery was 2-for-2. Pearson picked up her second pitching win in the game.
Bluefield improved its winning streak to five games in game one at Brevard with a 6-2 win. Pennington was 4-for-4 at the plate with a pair of runs knocked in, while Avery was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Pearson improved her pitching record to 3-0.
Game two in Brevard saw the Rams suffer their first loss of the season, 7-2. Pennington was 2-for-2 with a run batted in. Hedger suffered the loss.
