Box Score 2 CLEVELAND, Ga. - Softball dropped a double-header to Truett-McConnell Friday afternoon. The Bears won game one 3-2 in extra innings and held on to win game two 1-0.
BC jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning in game one.
Eryn Haley led off with a walk and
Morgan Sawyers was hit by a pitch.
Baily Garin singled to load the bases. Truett-McConnell's pitcher then commited a balk to move all three runners up sixty feet, scoring Haley.
Kristen Murphy then hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Sawyers. Those would be the only two runs the Rams were able to score for the remainder of the game. The Bears tied the game at 2 in the bottom of the fourth innning, and the Rams' defense held them from scoring again, forcing the game to go into extra innings, and international tie breaker (where a runner starts on second base to begin the inning). The Rams were unable to score the runner from second. The Bears bunted the runner to third, giving up the out, and the Rams were able to get the second out without the runner scoring, but an error in center field one batter later allowed the winning run to cross the plate.
In game two, the Rams held the Bears to only six hits, but two doubles in the bottom of the fourth inning was enough to score the lone run in the game. BC had five hits in the game but was unable to get a runner past second base.
The Rams fall to 9-15 overall and to 1-7 in the AAC.
The Rams return to action tomorrow, taking on Reinhardt University. Game times have been moved to 11:00 and 1:00, but with a chance of rain, the games could be moved to Sunday.
