Box Score 2 The BC softball team hosted Union College for a double-header on Tuesday. The Rams took game one 9-1 in five innings before Union won game two 6-1.
Alexandra Bartley and
Eryn Haley combined to throw a three-hitter in five innings of play. The lone run for Union came from the leadoff batter, Bazylak, as she hit a solo homerun over the left field fence. BC responded with three runs in the bottom of the first, as
Kristen Murphy blasted a three-run homer off of the scoreboard. The Rams then scored six more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to put them up by eight, which was enough to end the game as a run rule.
Megan Arrington led off the fifth with a single, and then
Kaitlyn Pennington,
Baily Garin, and
Morgan Sawyers each followed with singles. A Union error and a walk to
Morgan Stephens left the bases loaded for Bartley, who had an RBI groundout.
Michaela Carter then doubled to left-center to score the final two runs BC needed to end the game. Bartley got the win in the cirlce for the Rams after throwing three complete innings.
In game two, the Rams fell behind after Union had a six run inning in the second. A couple of base hits, an error by BC, and a pair of homeruns allowed Union to go up 6-0 in the top of the second inning. BC struggled to get runners in scoring position throughout the game. The only run the Rams were able to score was in the bottom of the sixth inning. Haley reached on an error, advanced to third on Garin's double down the left field line, and scored on Sawyers' single to center. Garin received the loss for the Rams.
BC improved to 9-13 overall, and 1-5 in conference play. Union moved to 16-13 overall and 1-1 in the AAC. The Rams will be on the road this weekend, traveling to play Truett-McConnell on Friday, and Reinhardt on Saturday.
