Box Score BLUEFIELD, Va. - The Bryan College Lions used a strong second half to claim a 70-53 win over the Bluefield College women's team, Wednesday night at the Dome Gymnasium.
A close game throughout the first half, Bryan held a 16-15 advantage after one quarter of action and took a 32-27 lead into the half. However, in the third period Bluefield went on a more than five minute scoring drought which saw the visitors take a 53-40 lead into the final 10 minutes of action.
The Rams got a strong effort from
Kierra Bell-Linnear, starting her first game. Bell-Linnear had a double-double, leading Bluefield in scoring with 10 points along with 10 rebounds. She was the only Ram to score in double digits.
Shelby Key tallied nine points while
Danae Cox finished with eight points and three steals. After making its first four shots of the game Bluefield turned cold shooting and finished the game making only 29 percent of its shots.
Bryan meanwhile finished the game at 49 percent shooting. The Lions were led by Megan Billingsby who also had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Amber Levi was the game's top scorer with 25 points while Cheyenne Shaver pulled down 10 rebounds.
Bluefield fell to 9-9 overall and 5-7 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference while Bryan, who is sitting just outside the NAIA Top 25, moved to 17-3 overall and 9-2 in league games.
The Rams play a pair of games in Columbia, S.C. over the weekend before hosting Reinhardt on Monday. BC will visit Columbia International, Friday night, then take on AAC foe Columbia College, Saturday.
