BLUEFIELD, W.Va. - In the words of Bluefield College women's soccer coach
Tom Price, "It was a frustrating game."
Price's frustration stems from the Rams 5-2 loss Saturday afternoon to the Reinhardt University Eagles in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match at the East River Soccer Complex.
"I congratulate Reinhardt on playing a solid, good game and executing their game plan well. I am proud of our team for not getting our heads down and we came back to make it a game. That is a testament to our game plan and what we do well. It would have been easy to hang our head and that would have opened up the flood gates, but we didn't."
Falling behind 3-nil in the first 28 minutes of play, Bluefield rallied and scored two goals in a nine minute span.
Victoria Doyle's goal in the 30th minute put the Rams on the board and a second goal from
Harumi Nishi, with an assist from
Whitney Browning, pulled the Bluefield women to within one of the Eagles. The teams went to the intermission with Reinhardt on top 3-2.
Reinhardt got two second half goals from Megan McCall to claim the victory. McCall's first came in the first 30 seconds after the break. Her second was in the game's 69th minute.
The visitors out-shot Bluefield 15-7 and Bluefield keeper
Amanda Brown had six saves.
The Rams 2-3-2 overall and 0-1-1 in AAC games. Reinhardt moves to 6-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in conference action. Bluefield hosts Tennessee Wesleyan, Tuesday.
