WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Victoria Doyle's goal in the 85th minute drew the Bluefield College women's soccer team even with the University of the Cumberlands, Wednesday afternoon and the teams played to a 1-1 tie.
Doyle's goal on an assist from Faith Shrewsbury was the only score of the second half. Cumberlands took the lead in the 36th minute on a goal by Amerah Dixon. Doyle's score forced overtime and neither team found the net in the two five-minute extra periods.
Amanda Brown had three saves in the match and the Patriots had seven shots to six for the Rams. Cumberlands led in corner kicks 6-4. In the very evenly matched contest there were no cards handed out.
Bluefield moves 1-2-1 and returns to the pitch Saturday afternoon against Columbia International University at the East River Soccer Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00.
