Rams stop Cavaliers in OT

Box Score BLUEFIELD - Victoria Doyle's goal in overtime lifted the Bluefield College women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over the Montreat Cavaliers, Wednesday night at the East River Soccer Complex. The win improved the Rams' record to 5-4-4 as the team remained in the top half of the Appalachian Athletic Conference as the regular season's final two games loom on the horizon.
A scoreless match in regulation, the Rams were the aggressor, outshooting the Cavaliers 14-5 prior to the overtime. Brandi Anderson, the current AAC Defensive Player of the Week, had three saves in goal, two in the first half and one in the second. Montreat did not have a shot in overtime.
Doyle's goal came with just over two minutes left in the first extra period. The ball went into the box and in a mad scramble she was able to find an opening and push the ball into the back of the net for the game's only score.
Bluefield improved to 3-2-3 in the conference. Montreat is now 0-12-1 overall and 0-8 in the AAC. The Rams wrap up regular season play with a match Saturday at Point  and the final game next Tuesday at Columbia College.
