CLEVELAND, Ga. -- A first-half goal proved to be the difference maker as Truett-McConnell College defeated Bluefield, 1-0, Sunday afternoon in Appalachian Athletic Conference women's soccer play at the TMC Soccer Field.
Bluefield (0-6-1, 0-6-1 AAC) recorded three shots on the day to 14 for Truett-McConnell (5-2-2, 3-0 AAC). Two of the Lady Rams' three shots were on frame, while just six of the Lady Bears' 14 were on target.
Bianca Clark scored what turned to be the game-winner in the first half of action.
Braley Freire and
Whitney Browning each fired a shot late in the second half as BC looked to square the game, but Freire's attempt in the 77th minute sailed high and Browning's in the 84th minute was saved.
Bluefield also had a corner kick in the waning minutes, but could not capitalize on the set play.
Amanda Brown recorded five saves in goal for Bluefield.
The team hits the road once again on Wednesday, playing the second game (5:30 p.m.) of an AAC doubleheader at Union College (Ky.).
