BLUEFIELD, Va. -- Tuesday evening's women's soccer contest between Bluefield and Emory and Henry was declared a no contest after continuous lightning in the area, as coaches agreed to call the match in the 40th minute.

The teams restarted two times after 30 and 50 minute delays, but the third lightning delay paired with a steady rain caused the coaches to call the game.

Rules declare that 70 minutes must be played for a match to be official. Tuesday's match is declared a no contest with no stats being counted.

At the time, Bluefield had led 2-0 thanks to Lyndsey Pelletteri's first career goal (2') and a putback goal from Whitney Browning (32').

Coaches will look to make up the game later in the season.

Bluefield is slated to hit the road for a match against Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Montreat, Thursday at 4 p.m.
