BLUEFIELD, Va. -- Playing its next-to-last set of home Mid-South Conference games, the Bluefield College softball squad dropped four games on Friday and Saturday, two apiece to both Georgetown College and University of the Cumberlands.

On Friday, Bluefield scored runs in its first inning of both games, but could not add to its tally the rest of the way in either contest, with Georgetown taking 10-2 (6 inn.) and 10-1 (5 inn.) victories.

In Saturday's doubleheader, both games were completed in their entirety, but the visitors still came out on top, with 7-1 and 5-2 wins.

Bluefield in the lead game, BC made the score 2-1 with a run in the third. After Kasey Holcomb reached on a fielder's choice, a Kattie Evans single to right-center allowed Holcomb to advance to third. Aline Uehara followed with another single to plate BC's run.

However, the Patriots answered back and posted a pair of runs in both the fourth and fifth innings as well as one more in the sixth en route to the 7-1 win. UC was held to eight hits in the game, but BC also committed four errors allowing three unearned runs.

In game two, BC fell behind 3-0 but once again closed the deficit. This time, BC plated two runs in the fourth inning to make the gap one. Three of the Lady Rams' four hits in the game came in the fourth, as Uehara and Morgan Stephens led off the frame with back-to-back singles. Back-to-back fielder's choice plays left runners on third and first. Brienna Sparks advanced to second without a throw from the catcher, but Ciera Conkle came through with a single to right-center to score both runners.

The Patriots answered again though and scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take the 5-2 win.

Bluefield is scheduled to host University of Pikeville on Monday with the doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
