Wins over Toccoa Falls extend BC win streak to 13

TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. – The Bluefield College baseball team extended its win streak to 13 games on Wednesday, defeating Toccoa Falls College 9-2 and 7-2. It sets the programs longest win streak on record—with records dating back to the 2014 season.

Zac Russell-Myers went 5-for-7 at the plate in the twinbill, claiming three RBIs in game one. Catcher Tyler Lundgren also had a good day swinging the bat, going 3-for-5 with three RBI in game two. Jacob Wright also tallied three RBI on the day, tallying one hit in each game including a two-run homerun in game two.
 
Game 1
The hosting Eagles loaded the bases in the first, but only managed one run in the frame.
 
Bluefield came back in the top of the second, plating two runs to grab the 2-1 advantage.
 
Toccoa Falls squared the game 3-all in the third inning, but only managed two more hits off the Rams' relief pitchers.
 
Bluefield added a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and four in the seventh and final frame en route to the 7-2 win.
 
In addition to Russell-Myers' three RBIs, Jacob Schober added a pair, while Wright, Tyler Timmer and Kahlin Villines added one apiece.
 
Game 2
Toccoa Falls once again gained the early advantage in game two, owning a 2-0 lead through three innings.
 
But, Bluefield plated five runs in the top of the fourth and added two more in the fifth, while the host's bats once again fell silent down the stretch. This time, the Eagles managed just three hits over the final three innings as BC took the 7-2 win.
 
In addition to Lundgren's three RBIs, Wright tallied two RBI in game two to total three on the day. Daniel Copeland and Timmer added one RBI apiece for the Rams.
 
Bluefield will step back into Mid-South Conference play this weekend. Their series against Pikeville, originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, will now be played on Saturday (DH) starting at noon with Sunday's single game starting at 1 p.m.
