BLUEFIELD, Va. -- The Bluefield College women's basketball team had its six-game winning streak broken in the "Battle of the Bluefields" series on Monday night in the Dome Gymnasium, as Bluefield State College used the second half for the come-from-behind 64-53 win at the Dome Gymnasium. Maryah Mazyck also chipped in 16 points, going 5-for-8 from the field and adding six free throws.
But, BC's foul shooting woes down the stretch hurt the squad, which finished the night 16-for-30 at the line, with 10 misses in the second half.
Shakima Wiggins and Hope Smith led BSC's (3-2) charge, recording 20 and 18 points, respectively. Both also logged double-doubles, as Wiggins pulled down 10 rebounds and Smith 14.

The Big Blues didn't take their first lead of the night until 50-48 when Wiggins knocked down one of her three three-pointers on the evening, with less than seven minutes to play.
Tolliver came back with a hoop to square it at 50-50, but BSC closed the final 5:19 on a 14-3 run.

Bluefield State also cashed in on the Lady Rams' turnovers, exchanging 16 BC giveaways for 24 points. While BSC turned the ball over 19 times on the night, Bluefield only tallied 10 points from those turnovers.
