BC drops final regular season game; takes 11 seed to AAC Tournament

1232ATHENS, Tenn. -- The Bluefield College women's soccer team dropped its regular season finale 1-0 to Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon, marking the teams fifth one-goal defeat in conference this season.

Bluefield finishes the regular season with a 4-9-2 mark with the loss, going 0-9-1 in AAC matchups. Tennessee Wesleyan closes its regular season with a 10-7-1 record, going 7-3 within the conference.

The hosts broke through with a goal in the 39th minute and took a 6-2 advantage in shots into halftime.

However, BC's offensive opportunities would be shut down in the second half, as the Lady Rams were not allowed a shot.

Despite Tennessee Wesleyan firing off 19 second-half shots, Bluefield did not allow another goal for the Bulldogs.

Brandi Anderson logged 11 second-half saves and 12 for the game to keep BC within striking distance, but Bluefield couldn't muster an attack.

TWC closed the game with a 25-2 advantage in shots, and a 13-2 edge in shots on goal.

Bluefield managed to create five corner kick opportunities in the first half, but none over the final 45 minutes. TWC finished the game with eight corner kicks.

With the AAC slate completed, Bluefield will take the No. 11 seed into the AAC Tournament. The Lady Rams are slated to travel to No. 6 Columbia College on Tuesday, with a time to be determined. The tournament site may be found here.
