GEORGETOWN, Ky. – A first-half closing 8-1 run for the Tigers gained momentum for the hosts which they carried into the second half for a 98-77 win over Bluefield College, Saturday afternoon at the Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.

Senior guard
Teqa McNeal led BC (7-8, 2-5 MSC) with 17 points.
Janee Simmons had her double-double streak halted at three games as she finished with 15 points and six rebounds, while
Asia Wheeler added 10 in the loss.

The Tigers (12-3, 6-1 MSC) placed five scorers in double-figures, led by Andrea Howard's 34 on 11-for-19 shooting from the field and 9-for-9 performance at the free throw line. Kourtney Tyra (15), Lizza Jonas (13), Devanny King (12) and Jessica Foster (10) broke into double-digits as well.

Georgetown attempted 43 free throws on the afternoon, hitting 34. Meanwhile, BC attempted 26 free throws, converting 18.

The Tigers shot a blistering 15-for-23 (65.2%) in the second half to pull away and concluded the game shooting at a 53.7% clip. BC ended shooting 28-for-72 (38.9%) from the field.

For the second straight game, BC was outdone on the boards, 42-37.

Alexis Grant started the scoring for BC after the Tigers tallied the first seven points of the afternoon.

Georgetown pushed the lead to 12-4 before the Lady Rams put up five-straight. McNeal converted from beyond-the-arc, while Simmons scored her first hoop and brought BC within three, 12-9.

Bluefield had trouble finding rhythm early on and was slowed on the defensive end as four players picked up a pair of fouls before the first media timeout (11:54).

Both teams went scoreless for a stretch of nearly three minutes, with the GC holding the 21-15 advantage.

Tyra hit a three to end the Tigers' slump and Devanny King knocked down a pair of free throws to give the hosts their first double-digit lead of the contest, 26-15.

Bluefield finally got off its 15 point total as McNeal made one-of-two at the charity stripe. Tolliver ended BC's field goal drought—which lasted nearly six minutes—with a hoop inside to make it 26-18.

The Lady Rams pulled back within two, 36-34, after a Wheeler three-point play. But, the Tigers closed the final 1:10 with a 8-1 run, claiming the 44-35 lead at the half and building momentum for the final 20 minutes of the game.

BC returns to the Dome Gymnasium on Thursday, Jan. 23 to host Shawnee State University at 6 p.m.
