PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Despite outshooting the hosting Bears by a 17-9 margin, the Bluefield College women's soccer team was blanked 3-0 by Pikeville Wednesday evening in Mid-South Conference action.
Both teams are now 4-2 overall, while Pikeville levels its conference mark at 1-1 and BC drops to 0-2.
Bluefield placed three of its five shots on goal during the opening 45 minutes, but UPike keeper Chelsea Schulte held the Lady Rams scoreless saving each on target attempt.
Kayla Scott put the Bears up 1-0 in the 65
th minute, while Makayla Mendoza made it 2-0 in the 73
rd minute.
BC's
Victoria Doyle and
Braley Freire put shots on goal in the following minutes, but Schulte continued to deny a score abd made 10 saves on the evening.
Carmen Koster put in the final tally for UPike in the 84
th minute.
Pip Pattison and Doyle each put three shots on goal for BC during the evening.
BC keeper
Kayla Richardson finished the evening with three saves on six UPike shots on goal.
Bluefield returns to action on Friday, hosting Southern Virginia University at 7 p.m. at the East River Soccer Complex.
