The 2012 Mid-South Conference Women's Soccer Tournament begins today with four quarterfinal matches at various sites across the conference. The tournament's semifinals and finals are scheduled for Nov. 7-8 on Lindsey Wilson College's campus in Columbia, Ky.
The higher seeded teams serve as host for Saturday's quarterfinal matches.
Lindsey Wilson College -- the MSC regular season champion and tournament's top-seed -- hosts University of Rio Grande (6-10, 2-7 in the MSC) at 6:30 p.m. ET. Lindsey Wilson (12-3-1, 9-0) won the regular season meeting 5-0 on Sept. 29.
Second-seeded Cumberland University (15-2, 8-1) hosts Shawnee State University (8-10, 3-6) at Noon ET on Saturday. Cumberland defeated Shawnee State 7-0 last week in the two team's regular season meeting.
No. 3-seed Campbellsville University (9-7-1, 7-2) hosts No. 6-seed Bluefield College (9-8-1, 4-5-0) at 6:30 p.m. ET. Campbellsville defeated Bluefield 4-0 on Oct. 16 with the Rams top two scorers out. The Rams who were picked to finish 10th in the MSC finished the season with an unbeaten steak of four matches that includes three shutouts.
In the final quarterfinal match, No. 4-seed Georgetown College (9-5, 6-3) plays host to fifth-seeded St. Catharine College (11-5-2, 5-4) at 7 p.m. ET. Georgetown beat St. Catharine 1-0 on Oct. 24.
The quarterfinal winners advance to the tournament's semifinals played at Lindsey Wilson.
The semifinals are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Nov. 7 with the championship match slated for 6 p.m. ET on Thursday, Nov. 8.
