Mr. Rob Iden, Class of 1990
A notable member of the men’s basketball team, Rob Iden grew up in Buckhannon, West Virginia, attending Buckhannon Upshur High School. After graduating, Iden began his college career playing for the Rams, under head coach Mark Blevins.
Iden was a 6-foot 2 guard, most notably remembered as a 3-point specialist. Throughout his time for the Rams, Iden played on 3 national Final Four and 2 national runner up teams.
During his time as a Ram, Iden played on 3 teams that won at least 24 games a season and averaged over 101 points per game during the 1988 season, which finished 2nd nationally. He was a member of the Rams team that accomplished a first ever NCAA Division I win over Liberty University with a final score of 100-97, then went on to win multiple contests against nationally ranked opponents. When asked about his fondest memory during his time at Bluefield, Iden was quoted as saying, “the welcoming atmosphere and family feel I felt all those years ago has remained unchanged. Some of my fondest memories include the bus trips with my teammates for away games.”
Following his graduation from Bluefield, Iden earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management which led him to his current position as a corporate account executive at US Foods, Inc. He now lives in Proctorville, Ohio with his wife Kristen and their five children, Trey (26), Jacob (24), Nicholas (22), Aden (18), and Abby (16). The family is an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Barboursville, West Virginia. Iden also has served as a former AWANAs club leader.
