Sam White is the new softball coach at Bluefield College. White has nearly 20 years’ softball coaching experience, most recently as assistant coach, head recruiter, pitching coach and offensive coordinator at Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.) White previously served as head coach at Faulkner State (Ala.) Community College, assistant at Darton College (Ga.), assistant at Wallace College (Ala.), and head coach at Ashford (Ala.) Academy.
A graduate of Troy University, White takes the helm of the Bluefield College that finished the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season with a record of 5-13.
At Lindsey Wilson he helped guide the Blue Raiders to the NAIA Softball World Series in 2015, where the team finished as national runner-up. He coached seven NAIA All-Americans and 15 All-Mid-South Conference selections during his time at LWC.
As head coach at Faulkner State Community College he led the team to two Southern Division championships. In 2013 his team had a 40-16 record, including a perfect 18-0 conference mark. He coached five ACCC All-Conference players and 12 All-Southern Division players.
During White’s tenure at Darton College in Albany, Ga., he was part of the coaching staff that won three GJCAA conference championships and advanced to a pair of NJCAA World Series.
At Wallace College as assistant coach and recruiter the team had 14 All-Americans and 30 all-conference players. Wallace had more than 50 players during his tenure move on to play in the Southeastern and Atlantic Coast Conferences.
White has an overall head coaching record of 57-15. His overall record as an assistant coach is 641-156. He has coached 44 All-Americans, nine of those pitchers, and 22 Academic All-Americans. More than 70 players he coached at the junior college level advanced to play at NCAA Division I schools.
White and his wife Lidia are the proud parents of four children.
