SWANNANOA, N.C. – The Bluefield University men's volleyball team closed out the regular season on a high note Tuesday evening, sweeping Warren Wilson in straight sets, 25-18, 25-15, 25-14, inside DeVries Athletic Gymnasium.
With the victory, the Rams finish the regular season at 11-12 overall.
Bluefield turned in one of its most efficient offensive performances of the year, recording 35 kills while hitting .386 as a team. The Rams hit .400 in each of the opening two sets before closing out the match with a .333 attack percentage in the third. Defensively, Bluefield limited Warren Wilson to a .014 hitting percentage and forced the Owls into 15 attacking errors.
The Rams showcased their depth throughout the match, with nine different players registering a kill.
Kaden Porter led the offensive attack with eight kills while hitting .400. Jadyn McCrory was highly efficient, finishing with seven kills on nine swings for a team-best .556 hitting percentage. Mamadou Dieng added four kills while posting a .500 clip and anchored the defense at the net with three solo blocks.
Jamareous Ryan contributed four kills, two solo blocks and a block assist, while Richard Cisneros totaled three kills, three service aces and a pair of blocks. Owen Karcher also provided a spark with four kills, three service aces and five digs.
Benedict Somes directed the offense with 15 assists and five digs, while Nate Gooden added eight assists and an ace. Jonathon Rudder paced the Rams defensively with six digs, and Cesar Bitanga chipped in four digs.
Mason Lloyd made the most of limited action, recording four kills on seven attempts without an error for a .571 hitting percentage.
BU now turns its attention to postseason play. The Rams will compete in the opening round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament in Kingsport, Tennessee, with their opponent and match time to be announced.
