BLUEFIELD, Va. – The Bluefield University men's volleyball team picked up a straight-set victory Saturday afternoon inside the Dome, defeating Kentucky State 27-25, 25-21, 25-9.

With the win, the Rams improve to 6-7 on the season.

Bluefield turned in an efficient offensive performance, finishing with 42 kills and a .278 hitting percentage while limiting Kentucky State to a .057 mark. The Rams closed the match in dominant fashion, hitting .367 in the third set while holding the Thorobreds to just four kills.

Mason Lloyd led the offensive effort with 18 kills on a .406 hitting percentage while adding five digs. Kari Williams followed with 15 kills and hit .379, giving BU a strong one-two punch on the outside.

Kemani Riley added six kills on a .500 clip, while Mamadou Dieng contributed two kills and two block assists at the net.

Benedict Somes and Nate Gooden split time running the offense, combining for 36 assists as the Rams totaled 40 assists on their 42 kills.

Defensively, Bluefield recorded 37 digs in the match, led by Zach Malavite with nine. Lloyd added five digs, and Jonathon Rudder finished with five as well.

BU returns to action Tuesday, traveling to Rio Grande for a 5 p.m. first serve.
