CLEVELAND, Ga. – The Bluefield University softball team dropped both games of an Appalachian Athletic Conference doubleheader at Truett McConnell on Wednesday, falling 11-2 in five innings in game one and 11-5 in the second contest.
Game One – Truett McConnell 11, Bluefield 2 (5 innings)
Truett McConnell took control early in the opener and never looked back to secure the game one win.
Bluefield was limited offensively but managed to push across two runs, with Kenidy Harris and Delana Loflin each contributing at the plate. The Rams were held in check for much of the game as Truett McConnell capitalized on timely hitting to extend its lead.
Sara Lang took the loss in the circle, with Katie Barrett and Mackenzie Hood providing relief.
Game Two – Truett McConnell 11, Bluefield 5
The Rams responded with a strong start in game two, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding two more in the fourth to build a 5-0 lead.
Chloe Dillow, Delana Loflin, and Alondra Reeves each drove in runs during the early surge, while Karter Fortune added an RBI double in the fourth. Dillow and Loflin paced the offense with two hits apiece, while Reeves also recorded multiple hits as Bluefield finished with nine in the game.
Truett McConnell rallied in the fifth inning with four runs to cut into the deficit before erupting for seven runs in the sixth to complete the comeback.
Isabella Smith took the loss in the circle after a strong start, while Mackenzie Hood provided relief.
The Rams will return to action Saturday when they travel to Pikeville for an AAC doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
