PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The Bluefield University softball team dropped both games of an Appalachian Athletic Conference doubleheader at Pikeville on Saturday, falling 8-0 in five innings in game one and 9-1 in game two.

Game One – Pikeville 8, Bluefield 0 (5 Innings)

Pikeville used a pair of multi-run innings to take control of the opener, scoring two runs in the second and three more in the third before adding three insurance runs in the fifth.

Bluefield was limited to three hits in the contest, with Delana Loflin, Kenidy Harris, and Olivia Bailey each recording a hit. Harris also added a double for the Rams.

In the circle, Isabella Smith took the loss after going 4.2 innings, allowing eight runs on 10 hits while striking out six.

Game Two – Pikeville 9, Bluefield 1 (Six Innings)

BU managed to break through offensively in the second game, finishing with six hits in the contest.

Jada Jordan led the Rams at the plate with a 3-for-3 performance, while Chloe Dillow and Kenidy Harris each added a hit. Olivia Bailey drove in Bluefield's lone run with an RBI double in the fourth inning.

Pikeville built an early lead and pulled away with a four-run fifth inning to secure the sweep.

Sara Lang was charged with the loss in the circle, while Katie Barrett and Mackenzie Hood also saw time in relief.

The Rams return to action Tuesday when they host Montreat for an AAC doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
