BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The Bluefield University women's soccer team dropped a 3–0 decision to Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent Reinhardt University Saturday afternoon at the East River Soccer Complex.
The Eagles struck early with goals in the 5th and 17th minutes to take control of the match, before adding a third score just after halftime.
Bluefield goalkeeper Autumn Matthews had a busy day between the posts, recording 11 saves while facing 29 total shots, including 14 on frame. Offensively, the Rams managed three shots, with Sara Cox tallying the team's lone shot on goal.
Reinhardt held an 8–0 advantage in corner kicks, while fouls were nearly even at 8–7.
With the result, Bluefield moves to 0–2 on the season, while Reinhardt improved to 2–1.
The Rams hit the road to face Brenau September 13 at 1:00 p.m.
