Fayetteville, NC — The Bluefield Rams put up a fight in both ends of a Tuesday doubleheader at Fayetteville State, but late-game surges by the Broncos in each contest led to two tough losses for the Lady Rams.
Game 1: Fayetteville State 8, Bluefield 2
Senior ace Hallie Cox was electric in the circle, fanning 12 batters and keeping the Broncos in check for five innings. The Rams grabbed momentum in the fifth with a go-ahead rally. Senior leaders Madison Blankenship and Mackenzie Franklin sparked the offense with back-to-back hits, and freshmen Maddy Wood and Lauren Jackson brought home runs with poised, disciplined plate appearances.
Despite a tough sixth inning that allowed Fayetteville State to surge ahead, Bluefield's energy and effort never wavered.
Game 2: Fayetteville State 5, Bluefield 4 (9 innings)
Game two was a showcase of Bluefield's grit. Senior pitcher Ali Glover was outstanding, tossing a complete-game 8.1-inning effort with six strikeouts and no walks — a true workhorse performance against a strong FSU lineup. Bluefield capitalized early, building a 3–1 lead in the second inning behind RBIs from Chara Wootten, Kenidy Harris, and Olivia Bailey.
In extra innings, Alondra Reeves delivered in the clutch with a ninth-inning RBI to even the score at 4–4. Reeves also reached base three times, swiped a base, and energized the dugout with her hustle. Harris continued her hot streak, going 2-for-4 at the plate.
Fayetteville State walked it off in the ninth, ending the game 5-4.
The Rams will look ahead to Friday as they will host Brenau University for their senior night.
