Game Recap: Softball |

Bluefield Battles Hard in Doubleheader Against Bryan

Dayton, TN – The Bluefield University Rams fought valiantly in a doubleheader against Bryan College but fell short in both games, dropping Game 1 by a score of 3-0 and a tightly contested 1-0 loss in Game 2. Despite the setbacks, the Rams showcased strong pitching performances and defensive resilience.

Game 1: Bryan 3, Bluefield 0

The Rams put up a tough fight in the opener, with Hallie Cox delivering a solid six-inning performance, allowing just three runs on seven hits while striking out three. Defensively, Chara Wootten and Olivia Bailey made key plays in the infield, and the Rams limited Bryan's offensive opportunities.

Offensively, Delana Loflin recorded the lone hit for Bluefield, while Alexis McDuffie and MacKenzie Franklin each reached base via walks. However, Bryan's pitching proved dominant, collecting eight strikeouts and shutting down the Rams' offense.

Game 2: Bryan 1, Bluefield 0

The second game was a classic pitchers' duel, with Ali Glover keeping the Rams in contention by throwing a complete game, allowing only one run on seven hits over six innings. She kept Bryan hitters off balance, forcing 11 flyouts while only walking one batter.

Bluefield's offense came alive with six hits, including two doubles by Chloe Dillow, who had an impressive 2-for-3 performance at the plate. Alexis McDuffie also stood out, going 2-for-3 with a single in both the first and fifth innings.

Despite the Rams' best efforts, Bryan managed to push across the game's only run in the fourth inning.

Looking Ahead

Though Bluefield came up short in both contests, the Rams showed flashes of brilliance, particularly in their pitching and defensive play. With continued strong performances on the mound and improved offensive execution, the Rams will look to bounce back in their upcoming conference match ups.
