In their home opener on Wednesday night, the Rams faced Emory & Henry University, a team they had previously lost to 3-0 earlier in the spring. Head Coach Gabriel Blakman acknowledged the challenge ahead: "We knew coming in we had to battle. E & H is a tough opponent and had played very well in the past." The evening was marked by intense heat and high anticipation as Bluefield sought to secure their inaugural win.
It was a night of relentless back-and-forth action as the clash between Bluefield and Emory & Henry unfolded. From the opening whistle, both teams showcased their defensive prowess, making it clear that goals would not come easily. Emory & Henry unleashed six shots in the first period, but none found the back of the net, thanks to stellar performances from Bluefield's Senior defender Adam Gymnander and Freshman goalie Justus Repschlaeger. On the other end, Bluefield's attack, featuring Unai Gonzalez, Louis Märker, and Edwin Cruz, faced an equally formidable Emory & Henry defense.
