BLUEFIELD – The Bluefield University Rams men's volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 win over the Carolina University Bruins in non-conference action Tuesday evening at the Dome Gymnasium.
INSIDE THE MATCH

• BU jumped to a 4-0 lead in the opening set. Carolina called its first time out with the Rams leading 11-6. The Rams lead went between four and six points and the Bruins took their second and final time out of the first set with Bluefield leading 21-16. BU claimed the opening set 25-18.
• The teams battled in the second set, a point separating them early until the Rams took a 10-8 lead. The Rans took a 12-8 lead and the Bruins called time. The Rams went on a 9-7 run to lead 21-15 at which time Carolina used its first time out. Bluefield won set two 25-19.
• Down two sets to none and their backs against the wall, Carolina took an early three-point lead in the third. Bluefield called its first time out of the match down 14-10. Out of the time out the Rams went on a 7-4 run to close to within a point at 18-17 and drew even at 19, forcing the Bruins to use a time out. BU drew even again at 22 and 23, took the lead 24-23 and after a CU timeout BU scored the final point to take the set 25-23 and the match 3-0.

LEADERS

• Benedict Somes finished with 28 assists, a pair of service aces, and six digs.
• Noah Clements had a team-high seven digs.
• Kyle Pietrzak amassed 10 kills along with five digs.

• The Rams return to AAC action Friday night against Life University at the Dome Gymnasium.
