BLUEFIELD – The Bluefield University Rams baseball team got back on the winning track with a 14-3 eight inning non-conference win over the Carolina University Bruins, Tuesday afternoon at Bowen Field.
INSIDE THE GAME

• The Rams took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a two-run triple by Will Cole.
• The Bruins tied the top of the fourth.
• BU retook the lead in the fifth, scoring four runs. Johnny Medina had a two-run double, Bryce Medlock a pinch-hit RBI double, and Felix LaRose a one-run single.
• Bluefield added a pair of runs in the sixth on a two-run single by Graham Dalton.
• Carolina plated their final run in the top of the seventh to make it 8-3.
• BU exploded for six runs in the bottom of the eighth. Graham and Medina both had one-run singles. Medlock was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring home a run, and LaRose ended the game with a bases loaded, bases clearing double.

LEADERS

• Dalton was 3-for-5 with three runs batted in.
• Medina was 2-for-5 with three runs batted.
• Cole and LaRose were both 2-for-4. Cole knocked in two runs, LaRose four.
• Medlock was 2-for-2 with two RBI.
• Andres Vega finished 2-for-5.
• Jaren Woodcock started on the mound for the Rams and retired all nine batters he faced.
• Connor Burdain, the third of five Bluefield pitchers, worked two innings to earn the victory.

NEXT IN LINE

• The Rams open Appalachian Athletic Conference play Thursday against Bryan College. The series concludes on Friday with a doubleheader at Bowen Field.
