Bluefield University women's volleyball standouts Joslyn Evans and Nayerly Jimenez have been recognized for their exceptional performances this season, earning spots on the 2024 AVCA NAIA All-Region Team for the Northeast Region. Evans was named to the First Team, while Jimenez received an honorable mention.
Selection Process
The All-Region Team honors 14 athletes from each of the 10 NAIA regions, with an additional eight players receiving honorable mentions. This year's selections include athletes from 118 different NAIA institutions.
Evans' Stellar Season
Joslyn Evans, a senior and offensive powerhouse for the Rams, had an outstanding season, securing multiple accolades. She was named to the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) First Team and earned AAC Offensive Player of the Week honors during the season. Evans concluded her season with 367 kills, an impressive .318 hitting percentage, and nearly 100 blocks, cementing her status as a key contributor to the Rams' deep postseason run.
Jimenez's Record-Breaking Performance
Nayerly Jimenez, who earned an honorable mention, also had a remarkable season. The talented setter was named AAC Setter of the Week twice and was selected for the AAC First Team. Jimenez achieved significant milestones, surpassing 2,000 career assists and later 3,000, placing her third in Bluefield University's record books for career assists.
Coach Gallemore's Praise
Head Coach Buddy Gallemore expressed his pride in both players, stating:
"Joslyn and Nay are very deserving of this honor. Jos was our 'go-to' attacker all season long. If we needed a point or to stop a run from an opponent, we knew that we could count on her to come through. Nayerly was the catalyst for our offense. Being the setter, everything ran through her. She was a great decision-maker and consistently put the ball where it needed to be for our attackers. We would not have had the success that we had this season without the contributions of these two great players."
Evans and Jimenez's achievements underscore their talent and dedication, leaving a lasting legacy in Bluefield University's volleyball program.
