BLUEFIELD – Bluefield University men's tennis played its first home matches of the spring season this past weekend. The Rams fell to NAIA #3 Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday 7-0, then dropped a non-conference match 5-2 against the University of Virginia Wise Cavaliers.
The Rams fought hard against the Bulldogs but TWU was too tough and took a 7-0 victory.
Sunday afternoon the Rams had a closely contested match against the Cavaliers. UVa-Wise took a 1-0 lead, capturing the doubles point. BU wins by
Delli Babu and Juan Aguedelo gained single wins to pull the Rams close a 3-2. UVa-Wise claimed the victory with close three-set wins at the #1 and #3 singles positions.
The Rams are back in action Tuesday as they host Shaw University in a non-conference match at Bluefield (W.Va.) City Park.
