MILLIGAN, Tenn. - BU men's basketball fell in the final seconds to Milligan University in its season and conference opening game. The Rams held an 81-78 lead only to see the Buffaloes sink a three with two seconds remaining to claim the win.
Donavon Martin, in his first game at Blue U, topped the scoring column with 20 points. Elijah White added 18 points with five assists and a pair of steals. Danny Alford, whose basket put the Rams ahead in the waning seconds and broke a 79-79 tie, finished with a double-double, 15 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
The contest was close throughout as there were five ties and 10 lead changes.
Bluefield opens its home season Saturday, taking on Truett McConnell in an AAC contest at the Dome Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 4:00.
