Shocked

BLUEFIELD – The Washington Adventist University Shock rolled into Virginia's Tallest Town and defeated the Bluefield University Rams 85-73 Thursday evening in a men's non-conference basketball game. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for BU.
INSIDE THE GAME
  • The early game was close with neither team holding more than a three-point lead before the Rams went ahead by six with eight-and-a-half minutes to play before halftime.
  • The Shock took a one-point lead, 27-26 with just over four minutes to go in the half and later went ahead by seven. WAU led 40-32 at halftime.
  • Washington Adventist held a double-digit lead for much of the second half, the biggest being 15 points, 72-57 with just under seven minutes on the clock.
  • Bluefield charged back and a three-point shot by Christian Bullock with 4:30 to play made it a five-point game, 72-67.
  • WAU closed the game on a 13-6 run for the final margin of victory.
LEADERS
  • Tybenn Sturm led Bluefield with 13 points, including three three-pointers. He added five steals and an assist.
  • Bullock came off the bench to drop in 12 points and also hit three treys and grabbed five rebounds.
  • Donavon Martin finished with 11 points and four assists.
  • Quantavis McKinney had a team-high seven rebounds and a pair of steals to go along with eight points.

  • Bluefield travels to Knoxville, Tennessee, to take on Johnson University, Saturday afternoon in an Appalachian Athletic Conference game.
