COLUMBIA, S.C. – Bluefield University women's volleyball split a pair of matches over the weekend in South Carolina. Friday the Rams dropped a four-set match to Columbia International University Rams. Saturday BU claimed a five-set win over Columbia College.
BU fell 16-25, 25-23, 11-25, 20-25 to CIU in a contest between AAC teams named Rams, Friday night.
Liangelys Santana recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 13 digs.
Joslyn Evans finished with 12 kills and five blocks, while
Chesed Russell had 10 kills.
Nayerly Jimenez handed out 35 assists while
Eledy Torres had 14 digs and
Georgia Lewis 13.
Saturday morning the Rams moved across town and defeated the Columbia College Koalas. Columbia took the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-23 before Bluefield took the next three 25-14, 25-15, 15-2 to take the match.
Evans was strong with 21 kills and four blocks. Santana picked up another double-double with 24 digs and 11 kills, and Russell added 10 kills. Jimenez also recorded a double-double with 50 assists and 13 digs. Lewis finished with 26 digs, Torres 21.
