Baseball sweeps Montreat in weekend series

MONTREAT, N.C. - Bluefield University baseball improved to 13-0 on the season and 7-0 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference with a three-game sweep of the Montreat College Cavaliers over the weekend.

 GAME ONE FRIDAY
  • The Rams picked up an 11-7 victory over the Cavaliers. BU plated three runs in the sixth and one run in each the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings to erase a 7-5 Montreat lead.
LEADERS GAME TWO FRIDAY
  • BU opened a 7-0 lead after three innings and rolled to a 10-3 win over the Cavaliers.
LEADERS
  • Nate Cobb was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
  • Maldonado batted in three runs.
  • Ryan Voss picked six innings and allowed only two hits to get the win in the seven-inning contest.
GAME THREE SATURDAY
  • A battle throughout,  Meaux drove in Eligha Lewis with a double in the top of the ninth for the game's only run. It was also Bluefield's only hit of the game.
LEADERS
  • Tyler Lowrey pitched no hit ball the final two-and-two-third innings for the win. 
  • Starting pitcher Ben Coffman worked six-and-a-third innings of shutout ball.
NEXT IN LINE
  • The Rams visit the University of Pikeville on Tuesday for a single nine-inning game.
